More Loudoun School Teams Excel in Chess Tournaments (Steuart W. Weller ES and Belmont Ridge MS)

VictorTan — Fri, 06/05/2009 - 22:32

Congratulations are in order for Weller Elementary School's chess team as they scored 3rd in the recent Gar-Field Scholastic tournament this past May 30th. Their three player team was only half a point behind the 2nd place team. This is the very same school that scored 10th team place at the VA State Scholastic! Way to go Weller!

The team members involved in this effort were Sowyma Sajja, Sai Bhavesh Kodali and Nishanth Sajja.

Oh, for those of you that don't know where Steuart W Weller ES is, it is in Ashburn.

In the Middle School Section, it was Belmont Ridge Middle School that came in 5th in the total team score. They too were only half a point behind the 4th place team. Great work guys! The team members were: Clark Smiley, Divyanshu Srivastava, and Jacob Hibbard.
