Another Loudoun County school has broken new barriers. Although not the first county middle school to have a student in a chess tournament, River Bend Middle School was the first middle school that I have heard of to send a team to a chess tournament. The three kids successfully won 5th team place at the Montclair Schoalstic IV tournament in Prince William County. That series of tournaments in PWC is organized by Dick Stableford.

The three River Bend MS students were:
